Feedback & Stars
We’ve been looking to find better ways for both researchers and participants to give feedback to us, and to each other, about how studies have gone. That way we can let each other know when we’re doing a good job and help address problems when we aren’t.
We’d like to introduce two new features which we’ll be rolling out: Our feedback feature and our participant star feature. These are some first steps we’re taking towards better communication, so please let us know what you think. We’ll use your comments to help us improve our platform further.
We want to build a brilliant community to power the world's research. To do this, we need ways of helping all of us – researchers, participants, and Prolific – communicate in the best way we can.
It’s early days and we want your feedback on how you think these features should evolve.
👍 The new feedback feature
At the end of every study that you complete, we’ll be collecting simple feedback from you, our participants, about your experience of taking the study.
We’ll be analysing this to learn more about which studies go smoothly, and where you might encounter problems. This way we can investigate and follow up with researchers, discover technical issues, and provide feedback to researchers regarding studies that don’t go smoothly.
Your feedback is anonymous, and won't be shared with the researcher directly. For now, we just ask you to give us a simple thumbs up / thumbs down at the end of every study. That’s all you need to do!
🌟 The new participant Star feature
Prolific is a platform for real scientific research and our participants take this seriously, often going above and beyond in their diligence when completing studies. This is why we want to give researchers a way to say thanks to the best participants.
Each researcher now gets Stars to award optionally for really great submissions to their study. Researchers can only award up to 5% of participants with Stars per study, so if you get one, then you’ve really excelled! 😎🤘
On your account page, you will from now on see the Stars you’ve earned instead of the Prolific Score.
In addition, we’ll be starting to feature “participants of the month” on our blog. That is, each month we’ll pick a participant who has collected exceptionally many Stars and say thanks with a prize – a Prolific T-Shirt, which we’ll ship to wherever you currently are in the world!
